Just an hour ago, Granite Hills HS experienced gunfire. Just a few weeks ago, Santana HS experienced gunfire. And Just a few years ago, Columbine HS experienced gunfire. My point?
Desensitization.I sympathize with parents. Not just parents of victims, but parents trying to raise a kid today. School Shootings are becomming a more and more common thing. Everyone was stunned with Jonesboro. But, school shootings for Moses Lake, WA were over looked. As a matter of fact, 3 other shootings were over looked and not a media frenzy until Jonesboro.
So why are we making a big deal out of it now? Why is society so fascinated with the raw human emotion that these people go through?
I turned on the TV and I saw a frantic mother trying to find her daughter. And how did I see this? A damn camera man was following CHASING her. The mother was hyperventalating and SCREAMING her daughters name. Thanks to the live footage, it will be there forever.
Think about it, if you were a parent, and your childs school had experienced a tragedy, and you cant find him/her would you want a fucking camera shoved on you? In moments of dispair, would you want a damn camera taping your every move? It is one of the more disturbing sounds and memories I'm adding to my growing list.
So, why the popularity of the shootings? Is it the 'in' thing? Or is it just that the youth of America isn't being heard, and this is a very effective, and very powerful way for youth to send a message. *DISCLAIMER* I am in no way advocating violence.*DISCLAIMER*
With every shooting, it is said that "this is a wake up call." Then let it be just that! What is WRONG with hearing the ideas, problems, suggestions and views of the corrupted youth today? We are corrupted because, of our surroundings, Our parents, teachers, clergy, media, and events taint us so horridly on a daily basis. Why not let the already corrupted government take ideas from the just as corrupted youth.
With recent events, there is no doubt in my mind that George Bush will have something to say about this. His education plan will be going into full swng and head stong now. And, just when it is un expected, or maybe, when it is, the youth will become pissed at the 'new' system which will be strikingly similar to the 'old' education system and he will revolt and uprise against the authorty being presented to him.
It's bullshit.
